LaPorte Farms is one of the many gems found on the Treasure Coast of Florida. This uniquely beautiful petting farm has been described as Sebastian’s best kept secret and was established in 1994 by resident Laura LaPorte. Laura grew up on a farm with cattle, goats, chickens and horses. Her farm today shows Laura’s continued love for animals, but the critters now include a zebra, a donkey, a marmoset monkey, a zebu, and more!
This meticulously maintained 5 acre farm is open Monday – Friday from 8am-2pm, and weekends from 8am-4pm and the general admission price is a donation. Pony rides and fishing are available every day and they are available to book for birthday parties, field trips, weddings, fundraisers, and company picnics.
In addition to their daily happenings, they also have many fun events throughout the year. Story Time with Mr. & Mrs. Claus, A Cowboy Christmas, Kids Fishing Tournament, and a Special Needs Hoe Down are all scheduled in the upcoming weeks and more information is available on their website.
LaPorte Farms’ mission is “To provide a safe environment for all people regardless of age or ability, to interact with animals while enjoying nature and creating lifetime memories.” In order to keep with this mission, the farm is handicap accessible, service dogs are welcome, and they have a medical equipment rental closet.
