Sebastian is also home to America’s first National Wildlife Refuge known as “Pelican Island.” Sebastian is the largest municipality in Indian River County, with approximately 20,000 residents inside its city limits. In addition, the Mueller Campus of Indian River State College is in neighboring Vero Beach and the Florida Institute of Technology is only a short distance away in Melbourne, on the southerly end of Florida’s Space Coast.
