Vero Beach, FL was incorporated in 1919 and is the county seat of Indian River County which is on the central east coast of the state. Indian River County has long been recognized for its citrus industry as well as for its sandy tropical beaches and waterside recreation parks.
Due in part to its location on Florida’s “Treasure Coast,” Vero Beach is a retirement “hot spot” noted for an abundance of health services including state-of-the-art technology at its medical testing, treatment, and private and surgical care facilities.
Shopping in Vero Beach is a pleasure at any one of the unique upscale or specialty stores along Highway A1A or at Indian River Mall or The Outlet Stores of Vero Beach, all of which attract patrons from many of the surrounding communities. For basic needs, there are grocery stores, pharmacies and other department stores in convenient locations in several neighborhoods throughout the city.
There are 20 public and more than 30 private schools for students of all ages in Vero Beach, in addition to the Mueller Campus of Indian River State College.
